Sesame Seed Twists

 

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg white, slightly beaten
3 tablespoons sesame seeds

In a large bowl combine sugar, butter, baking powder, vanilla, salt, eggs, and 2 cups flour. With electric mixer at low speed, beat until ingredients are blended. With wooden spoon, stir in remaining 1 cup flour until well blended.

Preheat oven to 350. On lightly floured surface, pat dough into an 8 inch oblong shape. Divide evenly into 24 pieces. With lightly floured hands, roll one piece of dough into a 6-inch long rope. Twist rope around your finger to form a coil; place on cookie sheet. Brush cookies with egg white; sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake 20 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned. Remove cookies to wire racks to cool.
